Ipswich people and visitors alike will find a brighter Christchurch Mansion when one of the town's best-loved attractions re-opens for business in the spring, bringing a fresh experience for visitors.
The Mansion, set in one of the country's most beautiful parks, is closing on 21st February 2005 for essential up-grading, redecoration and better access. It will be open again on 8th March 2005. The tearoom and the Wolsey Art Gallery will remain open throughout the period of works.
Among the improvements, which are being carried out in a rolling programme, are: a patio added to the Mansion tea room, better access for wheelchair-users in many parts of the house, new lighting in the Constable Room - thanks to the generosity of the Friends of Ipswich Museums, reinstatement of the Servants Hall period room and general redecoration.
