Two bus lanes in Ipswich are changing to peak hours operation only and two short stretches of another are being removed. The experiment by the Borough Council will see the bus lanes in London Road (between the A1071 and Robin Drive) and St Helen's Street (between Grimwade Street and Bond Street) having restrictions between 7am and 10am and between 4pm and 7pm. At other times cars will be able to use the lanes.
Two short sections of the Norwich Road bus lane (between Wellington Street and Chevalier Street heading out of town and between Sherrington Road and Westwood Avenue heading into town) will be removed.
Councillor Inga Lockington, Environment & Transport portfolio-holder, said: "We have looked at all the bus lanes in the town but these are the only changes that look practical."
