On-street parking for residents
On-street parking for residents living in and around the town centre is being reviewed by Ipswich Borough Council - and people's views are needed before any decisions can be made.

The review forms part of the Council's plans to develop its overall parking strategy. The Council wants to make best use of on-street parking spaces.

A pilot study is being carried out to see if the present residents' parking schemes can be improved. Residents in the study area were consulted in February 2005 as the first stage of this study.

The pilot study area centres on the existing Residents' Zone 3, situated to the north and east of the town centre.  This area was chosen as it contains a well established residents' permit zone and areas where short-stay and commuter parking is already a problem.

Consultation is vital and the Council is organising an exhibition at Ipswich Museum in High Street on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th July 2005. The exhibition will be open on Friday from 4pm until 7pm and on Saturday from 10am until 2pm. Staff will be on hand to answer any queries.

The exhibition will provide feedback on the issues raised in the pilot study and also invite comments on draft proposals to improve the existing residents' schemes. The Council also wants to find out how local people feel about a possible enlargement of the existing residents' parking scheme.
