Three prize-winners are feeling in the money after a competition to encourage more people to pay their council tax by direct debit.

More than 1,300 changed from writing cheques or standing orders last year and their names went into a hat for cash prizes. The lucky winners are Mr and Mrs Ransome, Martin McCallum and Raymond Scott. The draw was sponsored by the Co-operative Bank and the presentations made at Civic Centre.

Direct debit is the easy way to pay - no more need to queue to pay, write out cheques or risk a reminder - and it also helps to keep the Council's costs down. And we've made it even more convenient because now you have a choice of instalment days if you pay your tax over 10 months: 8th, 15th and 22nd as well as the 1st.

If you've got a bank or building society account which lets you pay bills by direct debit, why not contact us on 01473 433910 or council.tax@ipswich.gov.uk and join the 27,000 people who pay this way already.
