As the number of foodstuffs affected by the Sudan 1 food dye continued to rise, Suffolk's local councils have worked together to contact retailers in the county.
Each council is represented on the Suffolk Food Liaison Group and Ipswich Borough's representative Jo-Ann Batho said today: "We have been busy getting in touch with hundreds of local caterers and retailers either in person or by letter to ensure affected foodstuffs are withdrawn. Obviously, it is impossible to contact everyone but our approach is proportionate to the very low risk."
Further information and an up to date list of affected foods is available from the food standards agency website www.food.gov.uk or by contacting a member of the Ipswich Borough Council food safety team on 01473 433019.
