There were two reasons to celebrate St George's Day in Ipswich - Ganges 100 and Springfest 2005. A festival that encompassed live entertainment, including music, dance, street theatre and food, Springfest ran alongside the HMS Ganges 100 Centenary Parade and attracted a big crowd to the Waterfront. HMS Ganges Association held the parade to mark the centenary of the founding of the naval training centre at Shotley, near Ipswich.
