Experts at Ipswich Museum have been restoring a huge sturgeon
Experts at Ipswich Museum have been restoring a huge sturgeon which was caught in the west of England 160 years ago. The 2.2 metre fish made the overland journey to High Street for an “operation” by the Museum’s specialist natural history conservator, Dominique Rogers. She and her Borough Council colleagues have cleaned and re-varnished the fish, repaired its fins and filled in a few gaps. Now, the sturgeon has said goodbye to Suffolk and is back in its Herefordshire home.
The Museum in High Street is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 5pm. Entry is free.
