A transport company in Ipswich has been ordered to pay £8,600 after ignoring instructions to improve safety at its warehouse.
Magistrates found Karl King Transport Ltd, of Cocksedge Business Park, guilty of breaches under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 after a joint investigation by Ipswich Borough Council and the Health & Safety Executive.
The Borough Council decided to prosecute after the company did not comply with a Prohibition Notice relating to dangerous stacking of pallet loads and damaged pallet racking at the site. The company was fined a total of £8,600, including costs. The Council's Environmental Health Officers told the court that the company had made little or no attempt to comply with its requirements despite numerous warnings.
