Ipswich Borough Council is consulting the public on its draft statement of community involvement. This document underpins all the others because it explains how the Council will consult and involve people at each stage in the preparation of each type of planning document. It is part of making the planning process more transparent and accessible to people, to encourage greater involvement in shaping the future development of the town.
The techniques the Council outlines in the draft Statement of Community Involvement are a mixture of the tried and tested - such as letters and meetings - and newer methods making use of the internet and e-mail. Please let the Council know whether you consider that the approach outlined will be effective. The deadline for comments is Monday 26th June 2006.
The documents (there is a full copy of the Statement of Community Involvement and a summary) are available free of charge on the Council's web site, at libraries and the Customer Services Centre and by request from Strategic Planning and Regeneration at the Civic Centre, telephone 01473 432933 or e-mail planningandregeneration@ipswich.gov.uk
