The magnificent seven - that is what Ipswich Borough Council is calling its latest intake of modern apprentices. The seven, working for the Council's Ipswich Borough Contracts arm, are helping with the repairs and maintenance of Ipswich Borough Council's housing stock while studying at college for their NVQs. Three are electricians, two are plumbers, one a plasterer and the other a bricklayer. It is the biggest intake of apprentices yet taken on by IBC.
Councillor Steven Wells, the Council's Housing portfolio-holder, said: "Ipswich Borough Contracts is becoming renowned for its high standards of work, staff and customer satisfaction. Our new apprentices will be trained to these high standards in many different trades including carpentry, brickwork and plastering.”
