A stretch of dangerous park wall in Ipswich is being demolished and rebuilt

A stretch of dangerous park wall in Ipswich is being demolished and rebuilt but council officials advised motorists that the work will cause unavoidable delays.

Contractors ES&H will undertake the work for the Borough Council at the end of July alongside Alexandra Park in Back Hamlet. A full structural survey has been done and found that the wall needed replacing along a 23-metre stretch. A park entrance gateway will also be repaired.

A Council spokesman said: “We regret the inevitable traffic problems caused by a partial road closure but people’s safety is paramount. We decided to start work at the beginning of the summer holidays, on Monday 30th July, in order to keep disruption to a minimum but we apologise to motorists and residents who will be affected.”

It is expected that the work will be completed by mid-September.
