Cyclists in Ipswich have better access
Cyclists in Ipswich have better access to the town centre. Ipswich Borough Council has brought in an experimental scheme to allow riders into Westgate Street and Tavern Street between 4.30pm and 10.30am (the same as permitted service vehicle access). This enables cyclists to travel between Upper Brook Street and Museum Street in a westerly direction along Carr Street, Tavern Street, all of Westgate Street, the Cornhill and the pedestrianised section of Princes Street. This will enable cyclists to reach existing cycle facilities at each end and to ride safely from Major’s Corner to St Matthew’s Street avoiding Crown Street in peak periods. Cycling outside the permitted times is not allowed and will be monitored.
