Ipswich in Bloom will be running a competition this year, it has been announced.
Ipswich in Bloom aims to make our town a more attractive place to live in. By encouraging imaginitive use of plants, shrubs and flowers, the conservation of pleasant features and the improvement of built-up areas we can improve Ipswich for residents and visitors.
It had been announced that Ipswich in Bloom would not be running a competition this year but now new chairman, Councillor George Debman and his team have agreed to organise a winter display competition.
Displays may include hanging baskets, planted containers and gardens. Gold, silver and bronze vouchers will be awarded to every entry that meets the required standard and trophies will be given to the best entry in each category. Judging will take place next February.
Councillor Debman said: “We are delighted that we can provide a competition this year and we aim to be back with a full programme in 2008, although we are seeking more help on the committee, so please help us out if you can.
New concept
“The winter competition is a new concept and we all hope it will prove popular. We welcome entries from schools and businesses as well as from owners and tenants of houses, flats and residential homes. There will be three separate categories - home, educational and business.”
You can pick up an Ipswich in Bloom Winter 2007 Display Competition entry form from the one-ipswich Customer Services Centre in the Town Hall, from housing offices and the County Library or by post from:
