Jason Donovan has helped to launch the Ipswich Regent Theatre's “Name a Seat” campaign.

Jason Donovan, who performed to a sell-out audience earlier this year, has helped to launch the Ipswich Regent Theatre's “Name a Seat” campaign. This summer is seeing the Borough Council-owned theatre transformed. After 77 years the theatre has been replacing its seats as part of an on-going refurbishment programme.

So, it is goodbye to the cast iron back-breakers and welcome truly comfortable seats worthy of the 21st Century.

The theatre is planning to make further improvements and in order to help achieve this it has launched a Name a Seat campaign. You now have the opportunity to have your name or message on one or more of these new seats and for your donation to be acknowledged for years to come.

Hazel Clover, the Regent’s Theatre Manager, said: "We asked Jason Donovan to help launch our campaign and were delighted when he instantly agreed. Many of our artists have a genuine interest in supporting the theatre and Jason was fascinated by the changes we are making"

"You can name a seat for yourself, or as a gift for someone - to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, a wedding, the arrival of a new son, daughter or grandchild or to remember a cherished moment or significant event. Whether it is for yourself or a gift for a loved one, naming a seat makes a lasting statement."

So you could find yourself sitting next to a star when the Regent reopens in September (Jason Donovan's seat is D1 and Derren Brown has taken B1). You can watch Jason Donovan launch the campaign online at www.ipswichregent.com where you can get a donation form.

The name(s) or inscription (up to a maximum of 50 characters, including spaces) of your choice will be inscribed on a brass plaque and permanently affixed to the back of the seat, making it part of the very fabric of the building.

All the money raised from the Name A Seat campaign will contribute to making the theatre an even more pleasant and truly accessible place for you to visit both now and for years to come.
