Team Ipswich, Ipswich Borough Council's sports development initiative, has boosted the work of the Ipswich Disability Sports Forum (IDSF) by helping to fund its inaugural awards evening.
The awards evening takes place at the Corn Exchange on Thursday 3rd April. It will provide an opportunity to celebrate disability sport in Ipswich and will promote and recognise sporting opportunities and achievements in the Ipswich area, including demonstrations from local clubs.
Jon Garnham, IDSF treasurer, said: "The awards event will give people an opportunity to speak to organisers about the work of the IDSF and see some of the sports in action. We already have a website www.idsf.org.uk and display boards promoting the sporting opportunities in Ipswich."
Councillor Judy Terry, the Borough Council's Arts, Culture & Leisure portfolio-holder, presented Mr Garnham with a grant for £1,000 on behalf of Team Ipswich and said: "It is really positive to see groups such as the Ipswich Disability Sport Forum working collectively to drive forward the development of local sport. The numerous disabled sports clubs that the forum supports provide such a valuable experience and it is a pleasure to support these where we can."
Anyone that would like to assist with the sponsorship of the awards evening or local disability sports clubs should contact Jon Garnham on 07977 411195 or info@idsf.org.uk
