The Ipswich Charter Wall Hangings are back on display at the Borough Council's Tourist Information Centre, St Stephen's Church, until 29th March.

This is a marvellous opportunity to enjoy the hangings, which chronicle the history of Ipswich on eight magnificent textile panels. Each highly detailed panel depicts 100 years in the history of Ipswich, from the Vikings to the present day.

Having returned from an international tour including Arras (France), Jamestown, Virginia and Ipswich, Massachusetts (USA), the hangings can be viewed free of charge at the Tourist Information Centre, which is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.

The hangings are the creation of Isabel Clover, who was commissioned by Ipswich Arts Association as part of its contribution to mark the Millennium. More than 40 of her former City & Guilds students worked together to complete the work. A wide variety of textiles, appliqué and embroidery are included to make the hangings a unique exhibition and record of the town's history.

Isabel's book "The Ipswich Charter Wall Hangings", sets of commemorative postcards and a pictorial map are available at the Tourist Information Centre.
