Thirteen Ipswich arts groups will be awarded the Ipswich Small Grants Awards next week by Ipswich Borough Council and developers Turnstone.
The successful groups are: Hungry Arts Limited, Ipswich Orchestral Society, Nutmeg Puppet Theatre Company, Eastern Angles, Greenfinger Productions, Key Arts, Flux Dance Film Company, IP1 Magazine, Ipswich Community Radio, Curiosity Collective, Suffolk Artlink, Black & White Productions and Ipswich Arts Association.
The projects supported range from a Polish arts festival in Ipswich to a family concert at the Corn Exchange designed to attract young people to appreciate classical music. Other awards will help groups stage an inter-active puppet show, the first staged adaptation of the Arthur Ransome classic "We didn't Mean to Go to Sea" on Ipswich Waterfront and an Ipswich world dance event, with performances from China, Brazil, Cuba and the Middle East.
Ipswich Borough Council's Arts Development Officer, Rebecca Weaver said:
"The grants are for exciting, high quality and innovative arts projects that will enhance cultural activity within the town and encourage a range of audiences, new and old, to engage with all art forms."
Nick Scott, Director of Turnstone comments:
"I was pleased to take part in the judging process for the Ipswich Arts Development Grants and look forward to presenting the winners with their prizes. I enjoyed being part of such a great opportunity to support the Arts in Ipswich and help those involved to utilise their talents. It was certainly an exciting change to my day job."
The awards ceremony will take place at the Town Hall Galleries on Monday 14th April.
