All over the world, millions of people have to walk miles to find water. And often, at the end of their journey, the water they find is dirty and unhygienic. Samaritan's Purse, a non-profit, Christian organisation, wants to change that. And all they are asking you to do is go for a walk.

Several churches across Ipswich have got together to organise an Ipswich Turn on the Tap Walk (opens in a new window), which will take place on Saturday 21st June. They are asking people in Ipswich to get together and walk four miles - the average distance that women in Africa and Asia have to walk to find water.

The idea is really simple.

  1. All walkers pay a one-off registration fee of £2 per person. But please consider giving more or raising sponsorship too: Download the sponsorship form here (PDF document: 332Kb).
  2. They walk for four miles.
  3. Er ... that's it.

You can start your walk anytime between 9am and 3pm on the day.

A bar-b-que, soft drinks and coffee will be available for purchase in Bridge Wood Car Park with all proceeds going to Turn on the Tap.

Alternative and overflow parking has kindly been offered by the Shell Garage off the A14 (before the Orwell Bridge if coming from Felixstowe direction), which is a 2 minute walk to Bridge Wood Car Park.

Posters, DVD's and leaflets are available to help get your school, church or workplace involved.
