Inspired by Wimbledon? Well, next month sees the start of the 15th annual Ipswich Parks Tennis Tournament.

This is a week-long knock-out format tournament organised by Ipswich Borough Council, featuring both boys and girls, in singles and doubles.

With around 100 entrants aged between eight and 18, players will be looking to get a winning start to take them on a run of matches from the first round, starting on Monday 28th July in Christchurch Park, to the final at Ensors County Tennis Centre, on Friday 1st August.

The tournament is aimed at players who may not have had the chance to play in a tournament before, as well as returning players from last year's event and players starting their summer schedule of tennis tournaments.

For further information about this tournament or the work of the Borough Council's Sports Development Unit please telephone on 01473 433511 or email sports.development@ipswich.gov.uk

Talking of tennis, if you like to play casual tennis in Christchurch Park did you know that you can now book your court at the new Reg Driver Visitor Centre (next to the Bolton Lane entrance)?
