A new regular coach service linking Stansted Airport and Ipswich is starting in May.
The service, operated by Excel Coaches, will run daily, every 2 hours. Two brand new coaches have been commissioned and will offer passengers convenience and comfort with wifi, the ability to book flights whilst in transit to the airport, leather seats and some special premium seating with extra leg room. Excel are also working in partnership with a local taxi firm to provide, as an option, a return door-to-door service from passengers homes to the Cattle Market Bus Station.
The Council's Tourist Information Centre is pleased to be involved from the start and will offer information and sell tickets for the service. Staff at the TIC are excited at the prospect of a frequent service from the town to our nearest major international airport as this is one of the most common travel enquiries that they receive. They are certain it will be a hit with tourists and business travellers alike - and could lead to more local people making Stansted their first choice of airport.
Journeys are every 2 hours from Ipswich at half past the hour from 2.30am and every 2 hours from Stansted on the hour, from 1.00am. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes calling at Ipswich (Old Cattle Market), Ipswich Rail Station, Capel St Mary, Marks Tey, Braintree, and Stansted Airport. A full time table is available from the TIC.
Online booking will soon be available and tickets will also be available from the TIC. Full details of times and prices are available from the TIC, telephone 01473 258070 or email tourist@ipswich.gov.uk
