Crowds of people gathered in Ipswich town centre yesterday to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Ipswich Town winning the FA Cup back in 1978.
The event was organised by Ipswich Borough Council, BBC Radio Suffolk, the Evening Star, and Ipswich Town Football Club.
Thousands of fans packed on to the Cornhill to welcome the 'Heros of '78' and their legendary manager Sir Bobby Robson, as they arrived aboard an open-top bus after touring around the town.
While fans waited excitedly for the bus to arrive, a giant screen replayed the historic moment that Roger Osborne hit the ball into the back of the net, securing Ipswich Town a place in footballing history.
The '78 squad took it in turns to greet the crowds from the balcony of the Town Hall before Sir Bobby himself addressed the fans.
The finale of the outside event saw the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Inga Lockington, join Sir Bobby on the balcony to grant him with the highest possible honour that can be awarded to an individual - the Freedom of the Borough of Ipswich.
Huge cheers greeted the popular manager as he described his attachment to his 'adopted home' and thanked the fans for their support over the years.
The celebrations continued into the evening with a special Gala Dinner, held in the Grand Hall of the Corn Exchange.
