Thousands of people are set to take part in the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile when it returns to Ipswich in March.

The last Ipswich run in 2006 saw huge numbers take part in the Ipswich Mile and nationally, a staggering 400,000 men, women and children did a Mile for Sport Relief. They included HRH Prince William, who gave his royal seal of approval by running at Sandhurst.

On Sunday 16th March milers in Ipswich can choose to do one, three or six miles and are urged to seek sponsors. Anyone interested can visit www.sportrelief.com for the latest details of the event and to sign up. Alternatively, you can call 0845 605 8000 (calls cost no more than 4p from a BT landline).

To run costs adults £5, children £2 and families (two adults, two children) £12. Go on, it's all in a good cause!

Sport Relief harnesses the power and passion of sport to change lives for the better. By doing sport, having fun and raising money, everyone can do good and feel good. Comic Relief spends the money raised to help vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

Councillor Judy Terry, Ipswich Borough Council's Arts, Culture & Leisure portfolio-holder, said: "We are delighted that Ipswich has been selected to host this exciting event once again. It was a huge success in 2006 and we're looking forward to seeing thousands of residents taking part this year, getting sponsored and raising money for Sport Relief."

As well as in Ipswich, flagship Mile events will take place in 22 other locations across the UK.

There are all sorts of other ways to get involved, too - challenge your friends to a five-a-side football match or host a sports quiz at the pub or at work. Whatever you do, make sure you raise cash while you do it and help someone to turn their life around.

The BBC will be behind Sport Relief, delivering brilliant entertainment across TV, radio and online.

Nine weeks of sporting fun across the UK will culminate with The Sport Relief Weekend from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th March.

So, whether you're a Miler or just want to show your support, kit yourself out in a pair of Sport Relief Socks available at Sainsbury's stores from 13th February and from www.sportrelief.com priced at £2, at least £1 will go to Sport Relief.
