Repair work is set to commence on Wednesday 23rd April to deal with a subsidence problem in part of Woodbridge Road, Ipswich.

The one-way section of the road between Orchard Street and Blanche Street was reduced to one-lane traffic while Anglian Water carried out its initial investigatons. But part of Woodbridge Road will have to be closed altogether as repair work gets under way from early on Wednesday morning.

Ipswich Borough Council has made a road closure order which will be in effect from midnight on Tuesday 22nd April.

A spokesman said: "This is the result of either a collapsed or a leaking sewer and repairs by Anglian Water's contractors could take some time. We want to advise motorists that there will inevitably be delays, especially at peak times."

Diversions have been set up and sign-posted. Out of town traffic will use Soane Street, Westerfield Road, Valley Road and Sidegate Lane, whilst traffic will be required to turn right only when exiting from Bolton Lane onto St Margarets Green at the traffic lights. Town bound traffic will remain unaffected by the works as access to Argyle Street will be maintained.
