Where is Ipswich?

Ipswich is the county town of Suffolk, located at the heart of East Anglia.
As an expanding regional centre, Ipswich is well positioned in the UK for its markets and suppliers, with excellent transport links to London, the Midlands and the continent via road, rail, sea and air.

By Road

Ipswich is well served by both rail and road links. The A12 dual carriageway provides fast road links to London and the major A14 trunk road is one of the UK's main east-west routes linking Ipswich and its nearby ports with Cambridge, the Midlands and the North. National Express operate a daily coach service to Ipswich from London Victoria, Manchester, Sheffield and Nottingham.

Ipswich itself has a comprehensive bus service linking all residential and business areas and is at the hub of a regional bus network providing transport links throughout Suffolk, North Essex and beyond. The town also benefits from three excellent Park & Ride facilities.

By Rail

4 trains per hour link London Liverpool Street with Ipswich in just over an hour and the main East Coast line (serving the North of England and Scotland) regularly connects with an Ipswich service at Peterborough.

By Air

The UK's third busiest airport, London Stansted, is just 50 miles away from Ipswich, offering scheduled passenger services to more than 100 destinations worldwide, as well as handling more than 190,000 tonnes of cargo a year. London Luton Airport is approximately two hours drive from Ipswich, providing flights to more than 63 destinations across Europe. In addition, just over an hour to the north of Ipswich is Norwich International Airport, which connects with mainland Europe through Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, just 50 minutes flight away.
Heathrow and Gatwick airports are both just over two hours away and offer worldwide flights serving both business and personal requirements.

By Sea

The busy ports of Ipswich, Felixstowe and Harwich offer frequent passenger and cargo routes direct to northern Europe, Scandinavia and beyond. Felixstowe is the UK's biggest container port, the 4th largest in Europe and the 13th largest in the world. Felixstowe connects with 360 ports in 100 countries worldwide and both Felixstowe and Ipswich ports offer roll-on-roll-off facilities for freight cargo. Harwich International Port offers passenger services to the Hook of Holland, Esbjerg (Denmark), Hamburg, Cuxhaven and Ijmuiden (Amsterdam).
