Why don't the printed maps fit on the page?
Why does the map display only show a blank grey background?
Why is there only a blank white background showing in the map frame?
Why don't the Key colours get printed?

Q. Why don't the printed maps fit on the page?
A. We have created the printable page to work with most printers. You will need to set your page margins to allow the whole print to fit on the page. Both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox set a margin around each printed page by default. To reset your page margins, select 'Page Setup' from the 'File' menu of your browser. You will be presented with a page setup dialog box. Simply set the top margin and left margin values to '0' and click 'OK'. All future prints from your browser will use these new margin settings.

Q. Why does the map display only show a blank grey background?
A. If you have version 5.5 of Microsoft Internet Explorerm the Java applet (map window) may not display properly. If so, you will get a blank, grey background. This is because Microsoft Virtual Machine (VM) is damaged. Unfortunately, VM is no longer available for download but you can download Sun's virtual machine at www.java.com. For more information, please refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 305674.

Q. Why is there only a blank white background showing in the map frame?
A. It can happen if you have answered 'No' to the Intergraph certificate and used the option 'Always trust content from Intergraph Corporation'. To remove this setting, open Internet Explorer and go to 'Tools' > 'Internet Options' and select the 'Content' tab. Here you should see a 'Publishers' button. After clicking on the button select the 'Untrusted Publishers' tab and you should see Intergraph listed there. Remove the Intergraph entry and in the case of Windows 98SE, deselect Java Runtime, reverting back to using Microsoft Virtual Machine in 'Internet Options' > 'Advanced' within Internet Explorer.
After you have closed Internet Explorer and then gone back to the Ipswich Borough Council GIS site, you should get the prompt to accept the certificate again.

Q. Why don't the Key colours get printed?
A. To resolve this issue:

  1. In Internet Explorer, click 'Internet Options' on the 'Tools' menu.
  2. Click the 'Advanced' tab.
  3. Click to select the 'Print Background Colors and Images' checkbox, and then click 'OK'.
