Zoom Functions

Scale Tool There are seven predefined scale values to change the scale of the map easily. Zoom levels are defined by specifying a target area width in kilometres/metres.
The original map centre is retained at the new scale.
Zoom In Tool Zoom in to the map to enlarge the scale by two. The centre of the map is retained at the new scale.
Zoom Out Tool Zoom out of the map to reduce the scale by half. The centre of the map is retained at the new scale.
Zoom by Area Tool The Zoom by Area function lets you select an area of the displayed map to enlarge it to the full size of the map window. Single click on one of the corners of the desired area and move the cursor to the opposite corner of the desired area and click again. The rectangle is visible during the selection.
View Previous Tool The View Previous function lets you return to the previous map view.
Centre Map Tool The Centre Map function lets you select a new centre point of the map window. During the relocation, the scale of the map does not change.

Pan Functions

Vector Pan Tool The Vector Pan function lets you shift the map defining the direction and the distance as a vector. Select a point on the map by clicking on it, then move the cursor to a new location in the map window and click again. During the relocation the scale of the map does not change.
Pan Right You can shift the map view by half of the width of the map window by clicking on any of the eight directional arrows.

Display Functions

Display Distance Tool You can measure the distance between a number of points. Place the points using single clicks, then double click to calculate the distance. The approxiamate distance is displayed in metres in a new data window.
Measure Area Tool You can measure areas on the map. Enclose the area by single clicking on the vertices of the polygon you wish to measure. During the measurement the polygon is displayed on the map to help visualise the area you are measuring. Double click on the last vertex to get the area. It is measured in square metres/hectares and is displayed in a new data window.
Display Easting/Northing Tool Select this function and click on the point you wish to get the Easting/Northing coordinates of. The coordinates will be displayed in a new data window.
Display NGR Tool Select this function and click on the point you wish to get the NGR values of. The coordinates will be displayed in a new data window.

Query Functions

Locate Easting/Northing Tool You can zoom to a location by defining the Easting/Northing coordinates of the point. Click on the icon and type the coordinate values into the data window that appears at the top left corner of the display. Close the window by clicking on the 'OK' button to zoom to the desired location or click 'Cancel' to leave the window unchanged.
Locate NGR Tool You can zoom to a location by defining the National Grid Reference of the point. Click on the icon and enter the appropriate NGR value into the data window that appears at the top left corner of the display. Close the window by clicking on the 'OK' button to zoom to the desired location or click 'Cancel' to leave the window unchanged.
Address Search Tool TheĀ Address Search function allows you to find the location of an address in the Borough.

Map Overlay Function

Map Overlay Tool You can expand theĀ Map Overlay menu item by clicking on this icon or by selecting it from the menu on the left-hand side. Click on a 'Theme' name to expand the list of available layers. To add or remove a layer from the map, click on the layer name in the list.

Output Functions

Print Tool Depending on the security level of the user, there are two ways to print the current map extent:
Public users get a print preview by clicking on the print icon. To cancel the process, close the print preview window.
Intranet users as registered users of the Geomedia WebMap application are able to control the contents of the printed page. The options are set on the 'Print Options' form, including the title of the map, the organisation name, the scale bar and the coordinates of the centre point on the map. The print preview appears in the same window and the printing can be started from here.
Note: This function is available in Microsoft Internet Explorer browser only.
Export Tool You can export the map by selecting this function. The following attributes can be customised on the options form: Output Type (JPEG or PNG), Map Width (in pixels), Map Height (in pixels) and Quality of JPEG Output. The map will be generated and displayed in this window.
