The prime responsibility of the Bereavement Services Area is to provide and administer a dignified and professional service by burial or cremation.

The three main aspects of service delivery are:

  • The administration and provision of burials
  • The administration and provision of cremations
  • The administration of burial and cremation memorials

The information on these pages has been put together with this in mind and we hope that it clearly explains the way in which Borough Council staff can help, as well as the range of different options available.

If you have any questions relating to any of the information provided here please do not hesitate to telephone the office or call in to see us - we will be pleased to assist you in any way we can.

The Bereavement Services office is situated in the Lawn Cemetery and can be accessed via Cemetery Lane.

The office is open to the public:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8.45am - 4.30pm
Wednesday: 9.30am - 4.30pm

We are closed on Saturday, Sunday and on Public Holidays, as well as occasionally at other times for staff training.
