Building and Design Services

Building and Design Services provide a full range of professional property-related services, primarily to other areas of the Council.

These services include architecture, building surveying, electrical and mechanical engineering and quantity surveying.

This expertise is used to cover:

• Repairing and maintaining the Council's valuable building stock.
• Undertaking energy management to keep costs to a minimum and gain environmental benefits.
• Designing and adapting buildings for people with disabilities.
• Converting and refurbishing buildings, from planning to administration.
• Maintaining Health and Safety in Council buildings, removing asbestos and testing electrical installations and appliances, testing for Legionella bacteria.
• Carrying out measured, level, structural and condition surveys of a wide range of buildings.
• Investigating and diagnosing building failures and defects.
• Providing imaginative and flexible solutions for new-build projects, utilising the latest Computer aided Design (CAD) technology.

As a support service to Ipswich Borough Council we are not able to directly offer our professional services to the public or to private organisations. However, we do offer the above services to other councils, housing associations and charities etc, on a commercial basis.

8.45am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday
8.45am to 4.30pm Friday
