The Corporate Health and Safety Manager provides the focal point for all corporate health and safety issues affecting the Council and oversees compliance of health and safety legislation.

This deals with health and safety issues that Ipswich Borough Council has a duty to comply with. It aims to:
1. Provide a competent Health & Safety management and advisory service to all service areas.
2. Develop and implement Health & Safety Policy and other relevant strategies, policies, guidance and procedures (e.g. Accident Reporting)
3. Investigate serious or potentially serious health and safety related incidents, prepare reports and make recommendations on corrective action. Bring issues to the attention of Councillors, Directors, Corporate Health & Safety Group and Health and Safety Committee where necessary.
4. Negotiate with the Health & Safety Executive, Trade Unions and other bodies on Health & Safety issues affecting the Council.
5. Identify Health & Safety training needs for Councillors and staff and provide or facilitate.
6. Prepare regular reports to Councillors and management on the Health & Safety issues currently affecting the Council.
