Delivering the Triangle Neighbourhood Action Plan

The first Triangle Project Group met on Tuesday 27 May 2008 at the Triangle Community Centre. This new group has been set up to deliver the Neighbourhood Action Plan. Group members include partners such as Making Tracks, Triangle Church and Living Water, CSV Media, SW Safer Neighbourhood Team, Suffolk Youth and Connexions, the Primary Care Trust, Community Caretakers, individual members of the community, Ipswich Borough Homes, Ipswich Borough and Suffolk County Councillors and the ASB Network. The group is also linked with many other colleagues and stakeholders outside the 'formal' framework of the meeting.
Commissioned by one-ipswich, the overall aim of the Triangle Area Profile was to gain a realistic, evidence based, understanding of the issues faced by residents living in and around the Triangle, which would enable these issues to be addressed in partnership. In keeping with the one-ipswich Local Strategic Partnership's strategy, the Triangle Area Profile uses a targeted hotspotting approach at neighbourhood level.
Research for the Triangle Area Profile took place over several months in 2007 using information such as numeric data and community engagement. The idea was to create a single, comprehensive report which was a 'synthesis' of all this information. It uses the Audit Commission framework, a holistic approach covering ten different Quality of Life themes. The research was delivered by the Community Link Officer (a partnership role run jointly by IBC Community Safety, Suffolk Constabulary, ICVS and one-ipswich).
Following publication of the Area Profile and its consultation, the Triangle Neighbourhood Action Plan was drafted to address local issues. It identified the following local strategic priorities and objectives:

Delivery of the Neighbourhood Action Plan to improve the Quality of Life for people who live and work in the Triangle will now to take place, following final approval by the South West Ipswich Area Steering Group in July.
Through the Triangle Project Group, we will deliver the action plan and pilot a neighbourhood model of governance. We intend to pioneer new ways of working with the community which empowers and engages local people and to be a model of good practice which can be applied in neighbourhoods around Ipswich.
