What is the Scheme?
If you qualify for the Disability Reduction, we will charge Council Tax on your property at the Valuation Band below the one your home is in. This means if your actual Band is C, then with the Disability Reduction we will charge Council Tax at Band B. For Band A properties your Council Tax will be reduced by 1/6th

Who Qualifies?
There are two conditions:

  1. Someone who is permanently disabled must live in the home (this can be an adult or child).
  2. And there must be:
    • a wheelchair being used indoors; or
    • an extra bathroom or kitchen specially for that person; or
    • a room which is used to help meet the needs of a disabled person such as a room put aside for dialysis

How do I apply?

  1. Complete and return the attached form.
  2. We will contact you to arrange a home visit. (All staff carry identity cards. Please check before allowing entry.) If you qualify, you will receive a review form or home visit each year.
