Surveys have consistently identified the importance of issues such as the enhancement and protection of our streets and open spaces. The quality of our environment affects all of us - those who live, work or visit Ipswich.

A safe, attractive and sustainable environment both maintains and improves the quality of life for all of us, whereas problems such as traffic congestion, waste, air and noise pollution can damage health, community pride and the local economy.

Nationally we have been given challenging environmental targets as part of the drive towards creating sustainable communities and lifestyles. Regionally the effects of climate change and economic growth mean that we need to address significant challenges such as flood risk, energy usage, water conservation and environmentally sustainable buildings.
