Health and Well-being

Ipswich Borough Council is committed to improving the health of the local community and works with a wide range of organisations and groups, including Suffolk Primary Care Trust, to address local priorities.

These are just some of the local priorities for health and well-being:

  • The Ipswich HEARS community alarm system and falls prevention exercise classes - helping older people to live independently, in their homes for longer.
Current information on falls and fracture prevention is available on the Suffolk Primary Care Trust website (opens in a new window).
  • Establishing school-based health services and drop-in well-being clinics - helping to build lifestyle skills, and reduce teenage conceptions.
  • Establishing and developing Children Centres and Neighbourhood Nurseries - helping support positive parenting, access to universal services and integrated care teams.
  • Healthy lifestyle and weight management interventions for families (adults and children) - helping to increase understanding of food and nutrition and increasing participation in physical activity.
  • Promoting fitness in the workplace - helping people to maintain positive physical and mental health.
  • Team Ipswich sports initiatives.
