The Housing Needs and Resources Service area is one of three forming the Housing and Social Needs directorate. We deal mainly with housing need, which covers gathering information about the extent of need, providing a housing register where applicants may make their needs known, assessing needs (including special needs), prioritising needs, making allocations through the Common Housing Register of council and housing association housing to prospective tenants, and working with social care services and other statutory and voluntary bodies to meet special housing needs.
The 'Common Housing Register' is now in operation. This means it is only necessary to complete one Housing Register application form to be considered for housing by virtually all Social Housing providers in Ipswich. See section on the Common Housing Register.
