Christchurch Park extends over 33 hectares of picturesque grounds right in the heart of Ipswich. It has a rich and fascinating history dating back as far as the 12th Century and provides the setting for many listed structures including memorials, drinking fountains, shelters and an ice house.
The park, a designated County Wildlife site, is in a conservation area and is on the English Heritage register of historic parks and gardens of special historic interest.
It was the first public park in Ipswich, opening in 1895.
Facilities
Facilities include a children's play area, tennis courts, bowling greens, a croquet lawn, public toilets, kiosks and shelters and the Reg Driver education and management centre by the Bolton Lane entrance.
Tennis courts need to be booked in advance between May and September.
