Ipswich Borough Council is at the forefront of the new planning system. Indeed we are taking part, following an invitation, in a national good practice project led by the Planning Officers Society.
We are currently starting to deliver our Local Development Framework (LDF) for Ipswich and have completed the initial stages of consultation.
Ipswich Borough Council was the first local authority in the East of England to submit its Local Development Scheme (LDS) to, and gain approval from, Government Office in 2005. The current version of the LDS is that published in May 2007.
The policies and guidance contained within the emerging Ipswich Local Development Framework will eventually replace the policies contained in the current Local Plan and further information set out in supplementary planning guidance and other supporting documents.
The Planning Policy site contains the following information:
The Local Development Framework (LDF) page includes all documents published as part of the LDF. It includes links to pages on the Local Development Scheme, Statement of Community Involvement, Development Plan Documents, Supplementary Planning Documents, and sustainability appraisal.
This page provides information about opportunities to get involved in the planning of Ipswich. It provides links to documents and comment forms for any consultations currently being carried out by the Planning Policy team. The Preferred Options consultation analysis will be available on these pages soon.
This page provides contact information for the Planning Policy Service.
The Documents page includes the Adopted Ipswich Local Plan 1997, the First Deposit Draft Ipswich Local Plan 2001, confirmation as to which Local Plan policies have been "saved", a range of existing Supplementary Planning Guidance and other Strategic Planning and Regeneration publications.
