The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (the Act) has resulted in major changes to the way the planning policy system operates. The old system of Structure Plans, Local Plans and Supplementary Planning Guidance is now being replaced with the new system of Local Development Frameworks and Regional Spatial Strategies (opens in a new window).
