The Ipswich Furniture Project is a charitable organisation that collects reusable furniture, working electrical appliances and general household items (that adhere to fire regulations) which they pass on to low-income families for a nominal charge.
The Project also collects redundant metal appliances e.g. fridges, washing machines and cookers that they then reuse or recycle for scrap metal.
Q. Is there a charge for collecting my reusable furniture and appliances?
A. No
Q. Is there a charge for collecting my non-working old fridge, washing machine etc.
A. No
Q. How are items collected?
A. If furniture items are reusable, an appointment is made to collect them. They will be assessed for reuse by the collection crew and may be rejected if unsuitable. Reusable electrical items are also collected by appointment. These items should be kept in doors or under cover, as if soiled by the weather, they cannot be reused.
With scrap metal and non-working electrical appliances, once you have left details of the items to be collected with the Furniture Project, collection will take place within 5 days. You can then place these items outside at the front of your property for collection.
