Street Cleansing - Service Standards

  • A “Cleaner” Ipswich is one of the Council’s top strategic goals.

  • Provide continuous cleaning of the town centre Monday to Saturday (6.00 am to 6.00 pm).

  • Sunday morning clean up of town centre and other shopping areas.

  • Remove obscene, racist or sexist graffiti within 24 hours of report (where possible).

  • Mechanically sweep specific streets at least monthly and some specific streets on a programmed basis twice a year.

  • Clean all gullies three times in two years.

  • Empty litter bins before overflowing.

  • Remove illegally placed flyposters

  • Litter pick all outer town streets at least fortnightly.

  • Attend out of hours call outs within one hour.

  • Undertake chewing gum removal in the town centre annually.

  • Remove accumulation of rubbish from Council land.

  • During periods of heavy snow or ice, reources allocated to gritting the town and other busy areas.
  • Collect reported syringes and needles within two hours.
