Mechanical Sweeping
We operate two large and one small road sweeping vehicles and these undertake all the scheduled sweeping work, cleaning about 386 km of street each and every year!
Gully Cleaning
A specialist gully cleaning vehicle is used to clean out all gullies, 13659 in total, three times over a period of two years.
Pavement Cleaning
To keep the pavements swept we use two Applied sweeping machines in the town Centre and a heavier duty machine on other pavements throughout the town – we aim to clean all pavements using this method at least annually.
Gum Busting
There is always a chewing gum problem on the streets and a specialist sub contractor is employed annually to clean the town centre main street. To supplement this we use a high pressure washer to tackle small patches of gum.
Graffiti Removal
We have a fully trained and experienced team specialising in removing all forms of graffiti from any surface, using safe and environmentally friendly materials and techniques, and without damaging the original surface. We also treat high risk areas with anti graffiti or anti poster coatings. Graffiti on items like post boxes, telephone junction boxes are the responsibility of their owner company and complaints should be passed to that company directly.

Our Hotline Unit can respond immediately to many different types of call. You can report graffiti, flytipping, high litter areas, dog faeces and anything else you feel is spoiling the environment in which you live via the Hotline number, which is Ipswich (01473) 433000.
Needle Collection
The increasing drug problem means that collection and disposal of needles is of vital importance to ensure that streets, play areas and amenity areas are clean and safe. Our employees are trained in safe methods of collection, are fully vaccinated and aware of the risks and appropriate preventative actions. All needles are disposed of correctly in accordance with the appropriate regulations.
