We work with other Service Areas within Transport and Engineering to implement the Highway Agency Contract on behalf of Suffolk County Council. We also implement Community, Environment and Amenity projects, undertake Highway Cleansing in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act and administer the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act.
Our service area is made up of four separate sections namely:
- Construction - the design and supervision of new engineering schemes.
- Maintenance - all Agency functions including winter gritting and NRSWA
- Traffic Signal and Street Lighting - new and maintenance works
- Community Improvements - administration and implementation of the programme of schemes
Each provide their own distinct services.
Highway Maintenance & Construction - We implement the requirements of the Highway Agency Contract for highway maintenance and improvement works, urban traffic control, street lighting and the administration of the New Roads & Street Works Act.
