Main Sports HallThis represents the largest indoor area at the Centre and due to the hard-wearing nature of the floor it allows a great number of different activities to take place, which include badminton (4 courts), 5-a-side, basketball, volleyball, trampolining and children parties. The Sports hall incorporates a full length viewing gallery and accommodates a P.A. system, electronic score-board. The hall itself can be subdivided with net curtains, making it an ideal venue for large competitions/seminars and sports tournaments.
'Racket and Ball' Bar
This is open evenings and weekends (by prior arrangement), and is ideal for private functions (e.g. family parties). This area is used during the day to house keep fit sessions and the parent & Toddler Group.
Squash CourtsTwo excellent squash courts are provided complete with viewing gallery. The Centre runs a squash league with six divisions and also runs a Junior Squash Club.
GymnasiumThe gymnasium is of a traditional style complete with wooden flooring and incorporates Badminton Court, Basketball rings and gymnastic equipment therefore accommodating a wide variety of activities that include aerobics, karate, fencing etc.
Bar lounge/Committee Room
The bar lounge and committee room can either be separated or left as one large area due to sound proofed dividing curtains.
Floodlit Outdoor Courts
The Centre provides two hardcourt tennis courts situated at the rear of the Centre of a tarmac base. Alternatively two netball courts or three basketball courts can be provided.
BalconyThe balcony is very large and apart from use by spectators it can accommodate table tennis and is an ideal dance floor for discos at social functions due to its wooden flooring.
Activities
The centres day-time activities are limited due to Stoke High School having sole use of all facilities from 9 am - 6 pm (Term-time only), however the present range of activities cater for pre-school children through to senior citizens.
There is a Parent and Toddler session on Tuesdays (10.00am to 12.00 noon), and the Centre caters for the 6 - 16 years old age group with badminton, soccer, squash and trampoline clubs.
Fitness classes are available with Aerobics, Legs Bums & Tums, Body Conditioning, Cross Training, 50+ sessions and Tri-Aerobics.
Maidenhall is home to a wide variety of clubs including Volleyball, Rollerhocky, trampolining and bowls clubs.
The Ipswich Bobcats Basketball Club also uses Maidenhall as its home venue for all its National League Basketball matches.
Martial Arts are well catered for at the Centre with instruction being available in Shotokan Karate, Kuk Sool Wun, Dentokan.
Senior citizens can join a keep fit class operating with a qualified instructor. A full series of sports courses is provided at the centre with BAGA, trampolining, and yoga being regularly undertaken.
During
school holiday periods a comprehensive holiday programme is provided with various casual, and course activities together with one off specials.
Floodlights at Maidenhall
Floodlights were installed to the tennis, Netball and basketball courts at the rear of the centre. Bookings are now being taken for Netball and tennis.
