WHY SHOULD I EXERCISE?
Aiming for a healthier lifestyle is good advice, whatever your age. It is now quite common knowledge that our bodies perform more efficiently with proper conditioning, but just what ‘proper conditioning’ is, varies enormously with each individual. Without exercise, bones tend to become thin and porous, a condition known as osteoporosis, but with exercise, and good nutrition our bones and in particular our joint bones rebuild and repair themselves as they should.

Exercising can strengthen your muscles and bones, and there are indications that it is helpful in lowering cholesterol. Mobility is often improved and it promotes an overall feeling of well-being.

As well as all the physical benefits of exercising, there are great psychological and social benefits also. It can be an excellent way of meeting new friends.

WHICH EXERCISE SHOULD I DO?
This is very individual and as well as the many activities offered by us, there are moderate forms of exercise which can be done even in the comfort of your own home. Gardening, walking, cycling, even housework can be done at a pace which makes you breathe a little harder than usual.

Your own level of fitness will determine the amount and intensity at which you can exercise, but there is something to suit all levels, even those older members of our community that have never exercised before should not feel deterred, as it is never too late to start
