Sports Services offers a wide range of fitness classes, suitable for all ages and fitness levels. These include Aerobics, Legs, Bums and Tums, Step and Yoga. We also have a number of water based fitness classes, held at Crown Pools, including shallow and deep water classes. All of our fitness classes offer an ideal opportunity to improve stamina, tone muscle, help weight loss or weight management and improve all round fitness - as well as being a great way to relax and have fun.
 
Information on each sports centre and water-based class is given below

INSTRUCTORS
All classes are taught by professional instructors with recognised qualifications. They can help and advise on specific needs and fitness objectives.

LEVELS OF INTENSITY
Most classes are suitable for all levels of fitness - but may vary in complexity. We recommend that participants always work at their own level, as low impact alternatives are incorporated into most classes. Suitable clothing is recommended and suitable footwear MUST be worn. Customers who suffer from any known medical condition are advised to seek medical advice before participating and should inform the instructor of any such conditions or injuries BEFORE THE CLASS BEGINS.

BOOKING & PAYMENT
Booking is recommended for most casual sporting activities and classes and can be done up to and including 7 days in advance with an I card. You can book in person at any of the centres, by phone or online. You can pay per visit for all our activities or as a regular user you can save money with our monthly I card. Details on all these prices can also be found on theI card page.


fitness classes (sports centre based)

Aerobics
A general low and high impact workout including general body toning.

Bodytone
Combined aerobic and toning exercises including the use of light hand and ankle weights.

Cross Training
A full body workout incorporating a combination of aerobic and muscular endurance exercises. It will work the heart, lungs and tone up muscles. The class is aimed to improve all round fitness level and is suitable for all abilities.

Circuit Training
Works the whole body, exercising the heart and lungs. Ideal for toning and strengthening the major muscles.

Energy Workout
A very good cardio-vascular workout for all levels.

Kick Aerobics
A simple but challenging workout for all abilities, including basic kick boxing moves, experience is not necessary. A full body workout which is an enjoyable change from the classic aerobic class.

Ladies Session
For ladies only, you can also play badminton, table tennis & short tennis as well as taking part in the scheduled classes - Aerobics, LBT, Postnatal & Antenatal fitness.

Legs Bums and Tums
Concentrates on lots of toning exercises on legs, thighs, stomach and bottom. Includes a stretch and relaxation session.

Line Dancing
Learn fun dance moves from the wild west and burn some calories too.

Max Workout
Designed to promote endurance, strength, increased metabolism, muscle tone and all round fitness. This class is set to music but has zero choreography.  

Super Circuits
For our Profiles members only - these are perfect for the whole body work out.

Tri-Class (New)
A mixture of Aerobics, Body Conditioning with weights and basic Step.

Yoga
This old tried and trusted art is guaranteed to relax so you leave feeling revitalised and energised.

50+ Keep Fit
This is an informal group where you can participate in aerobics, badminton or short mat bowls. This session provides the ideal opportunity to socialise as well as keep fit. Refreshments are also provided.


water fitness classes

Aqua care
A gentle workout which concentrates on flexibility and stretching. It is ideal for those recovering from injuries, operations or childbirth
 
Aquanatal
A fitness class specifically for pregnant women - with time set-aside beforehand for a health screen. Classes are taken by a qualified midwife/aquanatal instructor. Birth, babies and water go well together and this is a safe and enjoyable way to exercise during pregnancy.

Aquadeep
A high intensity, deep-water class for fit men and women. Use of a flotation belt means the ultimate no-impact workout.

Aquafit
This class caters for everybody including first time exercisers. We use a fun and stimulating combination of easy to follow fat burning and muscle toning exercises.
