TEAM IPSWICH
Ipswich Borough Council recently launched the Team Ipswich campaign, headed up by swimming legend Karen Pickering, as the Ambassador of Sport for Ipswich.
They are determined to use the Olympic Games to further develop sport in the town and boost the local economy, including selling Ipswich's fantastic facilities to international teams looking for a training base in the run-up to the Games (more ...)

SPORT FOR ALL IN THE INDIAN COMMUNITY
The Sport for All in the Indian Community project aims to improve the health and well being of members of the Ipswich Indian community by encouraging greater participation in sports and other physical activities (more ...)

CLUB DEVELOPMENT
The Unit works in partnership with National Governing Bodies of Sport to help local sports clubs provide additional and better quality sporting opportunities. The Unit provides information and advice to clubs on areas such as: applying for grant aid, writing development plans and accessing national sports development programmes.The Unit also produces a free guide highlighting local junior sports clubs (more ...)
 
GRANT AID CONSULTANCY
The Unit offers advice and practical support to local organisations making applications to the Lottery and other grant making agencies to increase and improve sporting facilities and opportunities in Ipswich (more ...)
 
REVENUE GRANTS TO SPORTING ORGANISATIONS
The Unit administers an annual programme of small grants aimed at assisting local clubs and organisations with the costs associated with the development of sport in Ipswich (more ...)

COACH EDUCATION/OFFICIATING COURSES
The Unit works in partnership with Suffolk Sport to organise and promote a comprehensive programme of coach education and officiating courses to meet the needs of the local sporting community.Included in the programme are National Governing Body courses, Sports Coach UK and First Aid courses (more ...)

SUFFOLK YOUTH GAMES
Each year the Unit is involved in the recruitment and training of teams to represent Ipswich in the Suffolk Youth Games, a sporting competition between the seven Districts of Suffolk in a variety of sports. DISABILITY SPORT
The Unit works with local organisations with an interest in disability sport to support and promote the provision of improved sporting opportunities for people with disabilities in Ipswich. The Unit provides advice and practical support to the Ipswich Disability Sport Forum and is a key partner in a number of disability sports development programmes including both the ‘Inclusive Fitness’ and ‘Inclusive Club’ initiatives (more ...)

The Unit leads the Council’s involvement in the Suffolk Positive Futures Project which involves outreach work to make contact with young people at street level and the provision of sports programmes that include participation, coaching, competition, education and leadership (more ...)
