Council and democracy

Ipswich Borough Council policy is made by the Politicians, led by Council Leader Councillor Elizabeth Harsant. That policy is then enacted by council staff. The council staff is led by the Chief Executive and Directors Team.

Ipswich Borough Council has a joint administration made up by Conservative and Liberal Democrat members. The Leader of the Council is Councillor Elizabeth Harsant, who is leader of the Conservative Group.

Service delivery in Ipswich is currently shared between Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk County Council.
