The chance to do something different
Volunteering is experiencing a boost in popularity, with more people volunteering for roles and more organisations taking advantage of this. This could be due to a number of factors, such as the current economic climate, an increase in free time, or a desire to help the community.
But what do we mean by volunteering? Well it's about giving your time to do something useful, without getting paid (apart from expenses). And in return you get the satisfaction of time and effort well spent.
What's more, volunteering can be a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, gain useful experience and have fun!
Regular volunteering - There is often a need for regular help at the Council across various different service areas. This may be providing help and support at sports coaching sessions, stewarding at events, welcoming people to one of our galleries, or even being an usher at a concert.
One-off events - The number of special events the Council organises is continuing to increase. These events, including the Ipswich Half Marathon, Ip-art Festival and Cyclo Cross, are heavily reliant on volunteers to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently.
