Christchurch Mansion

Discover Ipswich's historic past with a visit to the beautiful Christchurch Mansion, in Christchurch Park, just five minutes walk from the town centre.

See period rooms from the sumptuous Georgian Saloon, to the more humble Victorian wing with its displays of children's toys and dolls houses.

Don't miss the biggest collection of paintings by Gainsborough and Constable outside of London, along with collections of other artists inspired by the beautiful landscapes of East Anglia.

The Mansion is free to visit. There is disabled access to parts of the Mansion but please contact us directly for more detailed information.

We aim to open all galleries at all times. Occasionally, galleries need to be closed at short notice due to conservation, maintenance works or events. If you are coming to the Museum to see something in a specific gallery, you are advised to call the following number in advance to check before you travel: 01473 433554.

Christchurch Mansion is run by the Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service.

The Mansion is a ten minute walk from Ipswich Museum, approximately 25 minutes from the railway station, and five minutes from Tower Ramparts bus station. For suggestions on where to park in Ipswich please visit our Parking pages.

Monday - Sunday, 10.00 - 17.00
Closed 24th to 26th and 31st December, and 1st January.

  The Mansion has a gift shop, with an extensive range of books, posters, educational resources and gifts for all ages.
• Fonnereau's Tea Room
  Fonnereau's team room serves a range of hot and cold drinks, which are also available to take away. Throughout the day you can choose from a selection of snacks including fresh sandwiches, tea cakes, scones, chocolate bars and crisps.
• Venue hire
