About LABC

The LABC is the member organisation representing local authority building control departments in England and Wales. LABC is the trading name of District Surveyors Association Limited.

LABC's mission is to ensure that buildings are healthy, safe, sustainable and accessible for all users and tenants, whether domestic, commercial or public service.

LABC offer a number of benefits to those working with local authority building control departments such as:

  • LABC Built in Quality Awards - celebrating good design and partnership working;
  • LABC Building Type and System Approval - enabling you to work with just one authority to develop building types or systems which, when accepted by this authority and the LABC, will be accepted by all authorities subject to site specific conditions.
  • LABC Partner Authority Scheme.

The LABC Partner Authority Scheme is aimed at companies that make several applications each year to many different local councils. It enables the company to enter into a voluntary partnership with a single council so that you can:

  • Submit your applications through the same Building Control Team wherever the projects are to be built, in England or Wales;
  • Maintain a consistent approach to your designs;
  • Pay no additional charge for an extra service.

The Partner Authority Scheme has proved to be a great advantage to both companies and councils.

More information on LABC and all the initiatives mentioned above is available on the LABC website: www.labc.uk.com.
