Warm Homes Healthy People Project
Need help this winter ...or know someone that might?
Suffolk Coastal is working with partners across Suffolk to support those most in need of additional help through the winter months with funding from the Government's 'Warm homes, healthy people' fund.
Suffolk's 'Warm homes, healthy people' scheme can help people living in their own home, or one rented from a private landlord, and is aimed at the over 60s, households with a person with disabilities, families on a low income, families with children and young people with learning disabilities.
The scheme can offer, subject to eligibility:
- free temporary heater loan;
- help with emergency boiler repairs for vulnerable households;
- help with insulation and other energy efficiency measures including draught-proofing;
- help with paying fuel bills.
A special Winter Wellbeing helpline 08456 037 686 has been set up to deal with enquiries. Anyone who has a vulnerable relative or neighbour is urged to help them find out what support and assistance might be available to them by calling the helpline.
More information about the scheme is available on the Suffolk County Council website.
Health liaison officers will also work with GPs, hospital discharge teams and charities to target residents whose health is affected by cold homes and support them in accessing the 'Warm homes, healthy people' fund.
